SPHS English Teacher Receives Outstanding Service Award

Congratulations to SPHS English teacher and ASB Advisor Casey Shotwell who has received the 2022 Outstanding Service Award from the California Association of Directors of Activities (CADA).
 
Mr. Shotwell has taught at South Pasadena High School for the past 33 years. For the last 23 years, he has proudly served the students of SPHS as their activities director. Mr. Shotwell’s leadership class has won the CADA/CASL Outstanding Leadership Program Award 15 times and hosted multiple Leadership Development Days.
 
In addition to this role, Mr. Shotwell has served as football coach, tennis coach, negotiations chair for the Teachers Association of South Pasadena, and advisor to several student clubs, including the SPHS Yosemite Program for the past 20 years. Throughout his time in activities, Mr. Shotwell has enjoyed upholding the traditions of a school more than one hundred years old while responding to the interests and needs of today’s students.
 
The CADA service award recognizes outstanding contributions by one member of the organization in each of its seven areas in California. Selected by his peers for this award, Mr. Shotwell exemplifies leadership that improves the quality of student activities at South Pasadena High School. He embodies the characteristics of involvement, commitment, and excellence.
 
Thank you to Mr. Shotwell for going above and beyond in his daily activities and most importantly for inspiring SPHS students to achieve their personal best. Go, Tigers!
