On Wednesday, May 25, 2022, the SPHS counselors hosted a luncheon to celebrate the 2022 Book Award winners. The counselors annually select 11th grade students who best meet the merits of the individual awards. The books are donated by various colleges and universities. Congratulations to the five award-winning students:
Alicia Wilgoren - Brown Book Award - given to a junior who exhibits excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Nolan Park - Dartmouth Book Award - given to a junior who ranks in the top 10% of the class and who exhibits excellence in both academics and extracurricular activities.
Eleanor Yamada - Harvard Book Award - given to a junior who best combines scholastic ability, high character, and extracurricular involvement.
Ryan Arlett - Rensselaer Medal Program - given to a junior who ranks in the top 10% of the class, demonstrates potential for success in a challenging academic setting, excels in advanced math and science courses, and exhibits significant involvement in extracurricular activities.
Isabelle Whetsel - Smith College Book Award - given to a female junior who ranks in the top 10% of the class, exemplifies academic achievement, leadership qualities, and concern for others.
