On Tuesday, October 8, 2019, 32 students from South Pasadena High School – including SkillsUSA club members and woodworking students – spent the day at the Rose Bowl Stadium building 100 bunk beds for families displaced by the Camp Fire in Paradise, California.
Organizers assigned the students to stations where they performed assembly-line tasks such as sanding, staining, drilling and assembling the beds. Students worked alongside volunteer instructors with the goal of helping others while raising awareness of the skilled trades’ gap in California.
