The Flight Path Learning Center is offering the 2008 Charles "Pete" Conrad, Jr., Scholarship. The scholarship is for $2000 and is designated for students planning to attend college in the fall and are interested in pursuing a career in any field of aviation. The Greater Los Angeles Singles Chapter of the Japanese American Citizens League is holding a scholarship contest. The applicants must meet certain requirements such as being a member of a single-parent family and of Japanese ancestry. These will be awarded on the basis of merit and financial need. The U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration is offering the 2008 Charles "Pete" Conrad, Jr., Scholarship. This scholarship is available to high school seniors planning to pursue a career in any field of aviation. More information and applications are available in the Career Center. The 2008 Edison Scholars Program is awarding scholarship for $2,500 a year for graduating high school seniors. Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA, plan to major in a specific area, and be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States. Applications are available at www.edison.com/education.
The South Pasadena Chinese–American Club annually grants two scholarships of $1000 each, to qualifying SPHS graduating students planning to attend an accredited four-year college or university. This scholarship was established in memory of Dr. Karl Hwang, a former SPCC President. Qualifying applicants will have obtained a minimum grade point average of 3.5. In addition, applicants will be considered on his or her demonstrated leadership qualities, community involvement and on an essay about his/her personal goals to be submitted with the application. Applications can be obtained from the scholarship folder in the CC or may be downloaded from www.spcc-web.org.
