Nordstrom Scholarship is awarded to five students in the LA area. Students must be incoming high school seniors and have a 2.7-4.0 scale and demonstrate a need for financial need. For more info see Mrs. Brown in the CC. Applications due May 31.
 
Fox Sports en Espanol is offering a scholarship for one male and one female Latino High School student athlete. Athletic achievement will be the main criteria for selection. Applications and more information are available in the Career Center or at www.foxsportsla.msn.com
 
The Flight Path Learning Center is offering the 2008 Charles "Pete" Conrad, Jr., Scholarship. The scholarship is for $2000 and is designated for students planning to attend college in the fall and are interested in pursuing a career in any field of aviation. More information and application are available in the Career Center. The deadline is May 17, 2008.
 
The Greater Los Angeles Singles Chapter of the Japanese American Citizens League is holding a scholarship contest. The applicants must meet certain requirements such as being a member of a single-parent family and of Japanese ancestry. These will be awarded on the basis of merit and financial need. The U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration is offering the 2008 Charles "Pete" Conrad, Jr., Scholarship. This scholarship is available to high school seniors planning to pursue a career in any field of aviation. More information and applications are available in the Career Center. The deadline for this scholarship is May 17, 2008.
 
The 2008 Edison Scholars Program is awarding scholarship for $2,500 a year for graduating high school seniors. Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA, plan to major in a specific area, and be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States. Applications are available at www.edison.com/education.
 
The South Pasadena Chinese–American Club annually grants two scholarships of $1000 each, to qualifying SPHS graduating students planning to attend an accredited four-year college or university. This scholarship was established in memory of Dr. Karl Hwang, a former SPCC President. Qualifying applicants will have obtained a minimum grade point average of 3.5. In addition, applicants will be considered on his or her demonstrated leadership qualities, community involvement and on an essay about his/her personal goals to be submitted with the application. Applications can be obtained from the scholarship folder in the CC or may be downloaded from www.spcc-web.org.
 
Guardian Life Insurance is announcing the 2008 Girls Going Places Entrepeneurship Award Program for girls ages 12-18 who have shown an interest in business. Applications and more information are availble at www.girlsgongplaces.com. For any questions you may also go to the Career Center.
 
 
Burger King Scholorship (Begins October 15, 2007): $1,000 scholarships are available to all eligible high school seniors.
